    English Language Learner Professional Development
    Julene Oxton

An experienced literacy coach will be hired to provide quarterly visits to Orchard Lake Elementary. Each coaching “session” will include a large group (classroom teachers) study discussion, modeling in the classroom and coaching teachers throughout their day. Video tapes of modeling and Q/A sessions will be used for future staff development opportunities throughout the district.

    ChemLab Software and Multimedia computer
    Jason Just

ChemLab software and the multimedia computer will allow High School Chemistry students to interactively simulate virtual science experiments. Utilizing the district’s web technology, students will be able to safely, quickly and easily perform and repeat chemical science experiments in a digital virtual platform at school, from home and at the local library.

    Perfect Practice
    Andrew Hilliard

Perfect Practice is an innovative homework helper project designed by an 8th grade math teacher at McGuire Jr. High School. Using solution keys that show how to solve problems using proper mathematics, students will come to school less frustrated and ready to learn. A sample study from his trial group showed average test scores up 5.7% and median test scores up 6.6% in the regular 8th grade math class. The funds will be used to develop a set of solution keys for the 90 sections in the present math book.
